The ADEZZ Hardwood CARREZ Trough range is available in 11 sizes, with lengths up to 2 metres and heights of 43 cm, 57 cm and 71 cm. These versatile proportions make the range ideal for dividing outdoor spaces, creating natural screens, or forming elegant linear planting features in both private gardens and commercial landscapes. The troughs also pair beautifully with the ADEZZ Hardwood CARREZ Square Planter, allowing designers to create cohesive layouts using matching materials and finishes.

Designed and manufactured in the Netherlands by ADEZZ, each trough, crafted from sustainably sourced Garapa Hardwood, has a minimum thickness of 21 mm and is durability class 2, meaning it is extremely strong, hard-wearing, and well-suited to long-term outdoor use without the need for further treatment. Its warm, natural appearance and clean, timeless lines complement both contemporary and traditional architecture.

Every planter is assembled with stainless-steel fasteners and is internally lined with EPDM and anti-root fabric at the base, ensuring excellent moisture protection and a long service life. The troughs are raised on 20 mm feet to promote proper drainage and airflow, supporting healthy root conditions for the plants above.

With their robust construction and high-quality materials, CARREZ Troughs are ideal for commercial garden design projects as well as residential terraces, patios, roof gardens, and landscaped entrances. Their strength and consistency make them suitable for structured planting, screening, and long linear schemes where durability is essential.

Each planter comes with a five-year manufacturer’s guarantee. Customisation to bespoke dimensions for larger schemes or projects with specific size requirements is possible on request.

Product Care

The ADEZZ Hardwood CARREZ Trough requires no additional treatment. However, if you wish to slow the natural ageing process and preserve the warm Garapa hardwood pigment, you may apply WOCA exterior oil (always follow the manufacturer's instructions).

Important

Please unpack the hardwood planter immediately upon delivery. Any moisture trapped between the packaging and the timber can cause irregular staining that is difficult to remove. All hardwoods gradually turn grey when exposed to sun, wind, and rain; the final colour depends partly on the wood's original tone.

Wood is a natural material that expands and contracts with changes in temperature and humidity. Regular oiling helps stabilise moisture levels and can reduce shrinkage or swelling.

All fixings used are stainless steel. As with almost all hardwoods, Garapa can react when it comes into contact with iron, resulting in dark discolouration that may look similar to mould. Ensure no metal shavings from tools fall onto the timber during installation, and avoid contact with lawn fertilisers or cement, as both may contain traces of iron that could stain the wood.

Do not move the planter once filled.

Planting Advice

Begin by covering the bottom of the planter with approximately 10 cm of hydro pellets to promote adequate drainage. Place a permeable anti-root membrane over the drainage layer, then fill with a suitable soil mix for your chosen plants.

Stock and Lead Times

Almost all hardwood planter orders placed with Riverhill Garden Supplies are fulfilled directly from ADEZZ’s central warehouse in Uden, Holland, which means lead times are broadly the same across all UK resellers. We place orders with ADEZZ every day, ensuring your order is submitted to Holland immediately. It allows us to secure any available stock straight away or, for made-to-order items, begin fabrication without delay. Our long-standing working relationship with ADEZZ helps ensure your order progresses quickly and efficiently.

If the planter is in stock at ADEZZ in Holland, delivery typically takes 10 days to 2 weeks. When fabrication is required, it usually takes around 2–4 weeks, followed by an additional 10 days for delivery.

On our website, we display all Hardwood Planters as “in stock” because ADEZZ’s inventory changes frequently. We are currently working on a real-time inventory. Generally, there is good availability of most sizes at the ADEZZ warehouse; however, during peak season, stock levels can fluctuate more quickly. If timing is essential, please get in touch with us, and we will check stock at both our Kent warehouse and the ADEZZ warehouse in Uden to provide the most up-to-date lead time.

Storage and Delivery Flexibility

We understand that customers often work to project schedules and may need flexibility. One advantage of ordering from Riverhill Garden Supplies is that we can hold stock at our warehouse near Tonbridge, Kent, until you are ready to take delivery. We can order well in advance of your project and store the planters at no additional cost, giving you complete control over when your items arrive while allowing us to manage delivery from within the UK.

Customers are also welcome to collect their orders directly from our storage facility near Tonbridge, where we can load vehicles at short notice using one of our forklift trucks.

The ADEZZ Hardwood CARREZ Troughs are excellent for screening, allowing you to create height, structure and privacy even in narrow spaces. For evergreen, year-round screening, consider Phyllostachys aurea or clump-forming Fargesia bamboo for quick height without excessive spread. Griselinia littoralis, Pittosporum tenuifolium ‘Screen Master’, and Prunus laurocerasus ‘Otto Luyken’ all provide dense evergreen foliage and cope well with exposed or urban conditions, making them ideal for reliable privacy planting.

For a softer, more contemporary look, tall upright grasses such as Miscanthus sinensis ‘Gracillimus’ or Calamagrostis ‘Karl Foerster’ create a natural screen with elegant movement, while evergreen shrubs like Nandina domestica ‘Obsessed’ or Hebe varieties keep the display full through winter. Adding a few architectural highlights, such as Cordyline australis or Phormium, can enhance modern landscapes and rooftop settings.

Where a sculptural effect is required, small multi-stem trees such as Amelanchier lamarckii, Ligustrum japonicum ‘Texanum’, or upright Japanese maples give excellent height with a relatively small footprint. Photinia ‘Red Robin’ works well for taller structural planting, offering vibrant colour and a strong framework year-round.

Mediterranean plants also perform well in hardwood troughs, especially in warm, sunny locations. Olive trees, Italian Cypress, lavender and silver-toned Santolina create a refined, upright screen that pairs beautifully with the natural tones of Garapa hardwood and requires very little maintenance.

For pollinator-friendly schemes, Buddleja ‘Sugar Plum’, Salvias, Perovskia and evergreen Escallonia provide a softer, more natural screen with prolonged seasonal colour.

Commercial planting schemes often require substantial visual impact, durability and consistent growth. Tall evergreen hedging plants such as Photinia, Griselinia and Ligustrum offer reliable screening for restaurants, hotels, public terraces and retail environments. Bamboos provide quick height for privacy zones, outdoor seating areas and perimeter dividers while maintaining a clean, modern appearance. Calamagrostis or Miscanthus grasses are excellent for corporate or municipal landscapes, adding elegant structure with low maintenance demands. For high-end commercial entrances, multi-stem trees or clipped cloud-form shrubs deliver an impressive architectural statement while remaining compact enough for trough planting. In busy public areas, selecting resilient plants that tolerate pollution and wind—such as Pittosporum, Escallonia and certain Hebe varieties—ensures long-lasting displays that remain attractive throughout the year.

Dispatch Methods

Parcel Delivery

Smaller products are delivered by parcel couriers, such as TNT and Parcelforce. Upon dispatch, we will notify you via email with the estimated day of delivery and forward you a tracking number.

Pallet Delivery

Larger products will be delivered by our own dedicated delivery drivers or by specialist carriers such as Palletways and ILS who will be given your contact details and instructed to book in delivery with you once your order reaches your local delivery depot.

We charge a flat rate of £20.00 for delivery to England, Wales and Central Scotland. We charge a flat rate of £50.00 for delivery to England, Wales and Central Scotland if your order includes any ADEZZ, FORNO or FURNS product.

We are not able to offer a flat rate of £20.00 for delivery to East Central Scotland, North and North East Scotland, West Scotland, Norther Ireland, ROI, Skye, Orkney Isles, Outer Hebrides, Shetland Isles, Inner Hebrides, Isle of White, Isle of Man and the Channel Isles and a surcharge will apply. What if My Order Arrives Damaged?

Our goal is to make buying online with Riverhill Garden Supplies easy, safe and efficient. Although extremely rare items can arrive damaged and we are conscious of this so it is very important for that you read the following.

Upon delivery, please carry out the following steps

• Remove the goods completely from their packaging
• Closely inspect the goods for damages or shortfalls
• Sign for the goods, accordingly, noting damages/shortfalls and refuse the goods
• Notify Riverhill Garden Supplies of any damages/shortfalls within 24 hours by telephoning the office on t 01732 522471. The office is open 7 days a week, from 8am to 10pm including Bank Holidays except Christmas Day. Providing that you have signed for the goods as damaged and refused the goods we will repeat and dispatch your order again or arrange a full refund

The courier is obliged to wait 15 minutes for you to carry out these checks if need be. No claim will be accepted if a clean signature is given. Any claim for damages/shortfall must be made within 24 hours.
