Upon Delivery

Please unpack the Corten Steel Water Bowl immediately after delivery so that any moisture between the packaging and the Corten Steel Water Bowl does not remain sealed. Failure to do so will result in irregular rust and stains

Appearance

The Corten Steel Water Bowl will arrive un-rusted (blue steel) or part rusted. Once exposed to the elements the Corten Steel will naturally weather, this is known as the 'weathering process' (see image). Throughout the weathering process, please be aware that there will be 'run-off' from the Corten Steel that can cause staining.

After several months a protective layer of rust will form that is a natural orange-brown colour, this fixed coating will provide the Water Bowl with protection against further corrosion. Riverhill Garden Supplies recommend applying 'Owatrol' varnish once the Corten Steel Water Bowl has weathered to your desired finish.

Step-by-Step Corten Steel Weathering Guide

Stage 1

Freshly manufactured Corten Steel. At this stage, the dark oily residue coats the Corten Steel.

Stage 2

The oily residue is beginning to break down, as the Corten Steel begins to weather.

Stage 3 & 4

The “Run-off” stage – This can take around 3 to 9 months, depending on weather and positioning.

Stage 5 & 6

The final stages of the weathering process. Some “Run-off” may still occur as the Corten Steels patina develops to a striking, more consistent appearance.

Corten Steel Run Off

During weathering, Corten Steel can produce carbon run-off or staining on adjacent materials, such as stone or concrete. To reduce the risk of staining, we recommend raising the product off the ground using a suitable stand, blocks of wood, slabs, or similar; this will prevent direct contact with the flooring material. After the initial reactive period, Corten Steel will cure and self-seal with little to no carbon run-off. The weathering process of Corten Steel is integral to this product, and, as such, we will not accept responsibility for damage to surrounding materials caused by carbon run-off. Please ensure you do not place your product on any surface where damage could occur during the weathering process.

Preventing Unwanted Rust & Stains

If patches of excessive rust appear, gently clean with a soft brush and rinse thoroughly.

Wildlife & Natural Deposition Care

Encourage healthy wildlife interaction by regularly removing debris, leaves, or algae that may accumulate. This improves water quality and supports vibrant garden ecosystems.

Avoid using chemicals or treatments that could harm the metal or water quality.

Lead time and Delivery

The Lead time on Corten Steel Garden Water Bowls is approximately 3-7 days. 60cm, 80cm, and 100cm Water Bowls delivered in a parcel via FedEx or DHL. 120cm and 150cm Water Bowls are delivered on a Pallet using Palletways or Dachser transport. Delivery Cost

We charge a flat rate of £20.00 (parcel delivery) for delivery to anywhere in the United Kingdom for 60cm, 80cm and 100cm Water Bowls. We charge a flat rate of £50.00 (pallet delivery) for delivery to England, Wales and Central Scotland on 120cm, 150cm and 200cm* Water Bowls.

Parcel Delivery

Smaller products are delivered by parcel couriers, such as TNT and Parcelforce. Upon dispatch, we will notify you via email with the estimated day of delivery and forward you a tracking number.

Pallet Delivery

Larger products will be delivered by our own dedicated delivery drivers or by specialist carriers such as Palletways and ILS who will be given your contact details and instructed to book in delivery with you once your order reaches your local delivery depot.

Please note that you are responsible for arranging the return of your order and for the costs of returning your order to us unless we have delivered the item to you in error. All return items must have original tags and packaging; and not been used or modified.

What if My Order Arrives Damaged?

Our goal is to make buying online with Riverhill Garden Supplies easy, safe and efficient. Although extremely rare items can arrive damaged and we are conscious of this so it is very important for that you read the following.

Upon delivery, please carry out the following steps

• Remove the goods completely from their packaging
• Closely inspect the goods for damages or shortfalls
• Sign for the goods, accordingly, noting damages/shortfalls and refuse the goods
• Notify Riverhill Garden Supplies of any damages/shortfalls within 24 hours by telephoning the office on t 01732 522471. The office is open 7 days a week, from 8am to 10pm including Bank Holidays except Christmas Day. Providing that you have signed for the goods as damaged and refused the goods we will repeat and dispatch your order again or arrange a full refund

The courier is obliged to wait 15 minutes for you to carry out these checks if need be. No claim will be accepted if a clean signature is given. Any claim for damages/shortfall must be made within 24 hours.
